Homework
Your child should spend up to 30 minutes on homework a night. About 20 minutes should be spent reading, if they can read aloud that's even better. Here are a few other suggestions:
- Every Monday (or the first day of the week, sometimes this falls on Tuesday) your child will bring home one sheet of math homework. This is a review and they should be able to do this on their own.
- Flash cards are another way they can spend that time. We are really working hard to master our multiplication facts and 10 minutes of flash cards a day will be a huge help.
- Reflex Math or other math games on the Symbaloo page.
- You can also do an activity from the Family Times page that comes home with your weekly Reading Skills sheet.
The math homework sheets that go home on Mondays are supposed to be a review for your child. They should not struggle on these concepts because they have been taught in class. Please let me know if they do have a hard time with them, so that I can take the time to review the concepts with them.
If you do not have time to get the math homework sheet completed that first week, please don't stress. Your child can bring it in the following week. I understand that things are busy and chaotic.
